Mount Hope Cemetery Gatehouse

Since 1838, a third of a million people have taken permanent residence in Mt. Hope Cemetery's 197 acres.  There are mausoleums dug deep into hillsides and everywhere myriad symbols of Victorian funerary art.  Among it's most famous residents are civil rights leader Frederick Douglass, and women's rights leader Susan B. Anthony.

Over the years, Holdsworth Klimowski Construction (HKC) has completed numerous restoration projects to the cemetery's historic Upper Gatehouse. These included a complete masonry restoration, and the rebuilding of concrete and sandstone exterior stairs. We also rebuilt the architectural railing system to duplicate the original design, installed a new slate roof, and added a new custom wood cornice to match the existing woodwork. HKC also completed exterior painting and various aspects of interior restoration.

At Holdsworth Klimowski, we have the experience to plan, manage, and successfully complete renovations to historic buildings. We know the importance of, and social responsibility to, projects of this architectural significance.
